Audition Requirement

Auditions are held 3 times a year, to enter the College of Music, Mahidol University.

Trumpet Students should prepare the following, for admission to the College of Music

 

- Young Artists (Precollege Program)

Major Scales – 1-2 Octaves (up to 3 sharps and 3 flats)
2 Solos or Etudes in Different Style (one slow/lyrical, one fast/technical)
Sight-reading

- Bachelor of Music (All Majors)

Major Scales – 2 Octaves (all keys) 2 Solos or Etudes in Different Styles (one slow/lyrical, one fast/technical) Sight-reading

- Master of Music (Performance
All Major and Minor Scales – 2 Octaves (all keys) 2 Solos in Different Styles (one slow/lyrical, one fast/technical) Orchestra Excerpts for Trumpet – Prepare 3 standard Orchestra Excerpts (Pictures at an Exhibition – Promenade, Mahler 5 Opening Solo, etc)
- Doctor of Music (Performance and Pedagogy) – this Degree begins in 2011
Students will perform a 30 minute recital of music that displays a high level of musical and technical proficiency. The works chosen should be from the standard repertoire, and from different time periods. Piano accompaniment is required if necessary for the chosen repertoire. Prepare 5 orchestral excerpts displaying a variety of styles All Scales and Arpeggios, as well as sight-reading, may be requested
